Recycling

Bi-weekly Friday Curbside Pick-up is provided by Somerset County (2024 Schedule). For what can be recycled, the Curbside Pick-up Schedule, and First Saturday Recycling and Electronics Drop-Off Schedules, please visit the Somerset County website’s recycling page.

Each household not yet in the Dual Stream Recycling Totes Program is allowed two blue bins for no charge and additional bins at $10 each. They may be picked up by new residents by contacting Montgomery Township Public Works at 908-874-3144 to make an appointment.

If you have questions, please contact Somerset County Recycling Division at 732-469-3363.

Recycling Beyond Curbside

Do you have items to discard which are NOT taken curbside?  The Montgomery Township Environmental Commission has prepared this very helpful Recycling Beyond Curbside webpage to assist you in locating recycling destinations/options.

Drop-off bin for Recyclables at Montgomery Public Works Yard

For the convenience of our residents, Montgomery Township also provides a Recycling Drop-Off location for residents to dispose of their recyclables without charge. The drop-off bin is located at:

Public Works Yard
12 Harlingen Road
Belle Mead, NJ 08502

The recyclable items are the same items (glass/plastics/cans/paper/cardboard etc) that are regularly picked up every other Friday by Somerset County Recycling. This opportunity is for recycling only – no trash will be accepted. Proof of Montgomery Twp. residency may be required. The items should be prepared just as they would be for curbside pick-up. Cardboard boxes should be broken down flat and tied together.  Glass, plastic, and cans can be mixed together, but should be separated from cardboard and waste paper. Nothing should be left outside the bin, which is partitioned into two sections. Recycling must be placed in the correct section.

Any questions, please call the Montgomery Twp. Dept. Public Works at 908-874-3144.
