Volunteer Tree Planting Oct. 21Posted on October 18, 2017
Where: Skillman Park (100 Main Boulevard, Skillman, NJ 08558)
When: Saturday October 21, 10:00am to 2:00PM, meeting in Parking Lot C
The Open Space Committee, with the help of the Somerset County Park Commission, is hosting a fall tree planting project and maintenance day at Skillman Park on Saturday October 21 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM (“overflow” date Sunday October 22). This is part of a series of plantings to improve water quality and reforest the stream corridor along Rock Brook.
Bring your favorite shovel, work/garden gloves and drinking water, and help us plant some trees and understory plants! No experience is necessary, we’ll show you the proper way to plant the trees. We’ll have some tools on-hand, so if you don’t have a shovel or rake, that’s ok! We’re very thankful that the County Park Commission staff have prepped the planting sites, so we don’t have to dig through the hard shale!
Volunteers should park in “Parking Lot C”, and walk south past the gazebo/kiosk area toward the stream. If you’re not familiar with Skillman Park, you can use the address of Village Elementary School for your GPS or online mapping: 130 Main Boulevard, Skillman, NJ 08558.
