Montgomery Township officials have issued comments to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in review of the draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) submitted by Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company, LLC (Transco).

Please follow these links to read PDFs of Montgomery Township’s May 7, 2018 comment letter to FERC, signed by Mayor Conforti, as well as the Montgomery Township Committee’s Resolution 18-5-112, issued on May 7, 2018 and copied to US Senators Cory Booker and Robert Menendez, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, Congressman Leonard Lance, NJ Senators Christopher Bateman and Bob Smith, and NJ Assemblymen Joseph Danielsen, Joseph Egan, Andrew Zwicker and Roy Frieman.  Also see related May 7, 2018 Letter from Montgomery Twp. to NJDEP Division of Air Quality.

The Township’s comments center on the environmental impacts from a 32,000 HP Gas Compressor Station (Compressor Station #206), proposed for construction in Franklin Township.

The staff of FERC will review the DEIS in consideration of the environmental impacts of the Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) Project involving construction and operation of facilities by Transco in Lancaster and Chester Counties, Pennsylvania; Somerset, Monmouth and Middlesex Counties, New Jersey; Queens and Richmond Counties, New York; and in State of New Jersey and State of New York marine waters in Raritan Bay and Lower New York Bay. The Commission will use this EIS in its decision-making process to determine whether the project is in the public convenience and necessity.

FERC has assigned this project Docket No. CP17-101-000.  Comments on the DEIS are due by May 14, 2018.  For further information, go to www.ferc.gov
