Are you wondering whether your recycling will be picked up when it snows? Whether your county senior center or another county agency is closed or if there will be a delayed opening? Or whether flooding or downed wires are impacting a county road near you? To find out, you can sign up for free Somerset County Public Safety emergency alerts through Nixle.

“You can receive timely text alerts sent to your cell phone whenever there are closings or delays affecting Somerset County programs and services,” said Freeholder Patricia Walsh, public health and safety liaison. “This includes weather-related county road and bridge closings, recycling cancellations and delays, senior center closings and other program changes due to inclement weather.”

You can request email notifications, text alerts or both. The service is free, although cell phone carrier rates may apply to text alerts.
