With a staff of eight operators, two custodians, and one foreman,
and using environmentally friendly alternatives to indiscriminate
spraying of chemical pesticides for lawns, trees and shrubs, this
division presently maintains approximately 90 acres of parklands.
This includes six baseball fields, ten soccer fields, and ten playgrounds.
The division also maintains operations and cleanliness of the municipally
owned public buildings.
Roads

This division employs ten operators and one foreman in the maintenance
of drainage ditches and other drainage facilities around town, installing
driveway inlets, roadside mowing, erection and removal of snow-fence,
snow plowing, salting and anti-icing and patching of roads, and other
general maintenance of the roadways. The division presently maintains
approximately 135 miles of roadway.

Route 206 is a New Jersey State Highway maintained by the NJ Dept. of Transportation.

Somerset County Roads
Any main roads in Montgomery, excluding Rt. 206, associated with a route number are maintained by Somerset County. These include Dutchtown-Harlingen Rd. (Rt. 604), Belle Mead-Blawenburg Rd aka The Great Rd. (Rt. 601), Georgetown-Franklin Turnpike (Rt. 518), River Rd. (Rt. 533), and Kingston-River Rd. (Rt. 605).

Montgomery
Township has a Pothole Hotline so that residents
can report pothole problems in the Township directly to road foreman
Joe Kane.
The Montgomery Township Pothole Hotline number is 908-874-8947.
Pothole
hotline calls are recorded every day and monitored Monday through
Friday. If you wish to report a pothole on the weekend, please leave
the information on the hotline unless you feel it warrants an emergency
and requires immediate attention. If the pothole presents an immediate
hazard, residents should contact the Montgomery Township Police Department
at 908-359-3222. Resident reports are appreciated as they help township
crews be aware of and correct problem situations.
Sewer Division

The
sewer division now has eight (8) operators, a laboratory supervisor
and a Chief Operator. We maintain eight (8) advanced wastewater treatment
facilities and nine (9) sewage pumping stations. We are responsible
for fifty-six (56) miles sewer lines. These operators are charged
with meeting some of the most restrictive discharge limits in New
Jersey for non-trout streams. The laboratory is certified for some
of the compliance testing. The sewer utility relies on contractors
for some lab testing, maintenance and excavation.
Recycling.
Public Works Director Art Villano also serves as the Township
Recycling Coordinator. Questions regarding recycling may also
