Montgomery Township Public Works Container Facility is located
at:

FACILITY POLICY
The Container Facility allows Montgomery Township residents
to dispose of household items that are not recyclable, not hazardous
waste and that cannot be collected by their trash hauler. A
Montgomery Township Coupon is required of all Montgomery residents
who wish to enter the facility.
CONTAINER
FACILITY COUPON
Each
household may purchase one (1) Coupon for a fee of Forty Dollars
($40.00) good for four (4) trips to the facility. The Coupon
will be punched at the Container Facility. There is no expiration
date and there is no limit on the number of additional Coupons
households may purchase.
The
application form and fee may be brought or mailed to the Montgomery
Township Municipal Building. Coupons are not available for purchase
at the Container Facility.
No one without a Coupon will be permitted into the Container Facility.
Exception: There are two (2) items that can be
brought to the Container Facility that do not require a Coupon.
These two (2) items are used motor oil and brush. (See Container
Facility Rules #5 brush and #8 motor oil). If a resident brings
materials in addition to brush and/or motor oil, the trip will
count and the Coupon will be punched. Proof of residency will
be required.

FACILITY RULES
1. The Facility is available to Montgomery Township Residents
only
2. Only privately owned cars, pickups and utility trailers no
bigger than 4 ft. by 8 ft. are allowed. Commercial vehicles
or commercial trucks are not allowed with the exception of a
*One-Time Special Permit.
*One-Time Special Permit – this Special
Permit enables you to use a commercial vehicle at the Container
Facility. The fee is $40.00 and is for a one (1) time only per
year occurrence. Only the materials you list on the Special
Permit will be accepted at the Container Facility. You must
present your Special Permit when entering the Container Facility
or you will be refused access.
If a neighbor or a friend has a pick-up truck without commercial
plates and you have large items, they can accompany you to the
Container Facility. This will require 2 drivers and you would
advise people on duty that they are transporting your items.
You must have your Coupon punched at the Facility.
3. No household garbage, commercial trash, commercial or residential
building materials, concrete or stone, trees, or landscaping
debris.
4. No Recyclables (e.g. glass, aluminum, newspapers, cardboard,
magazines, and plastic bottles - see #10), no Consumer Electronics
(e.g. computers, monitors or televisions with a circuit board)
and no Hazardous Waste material (e.g. oil based paint, auto
products, mercury, kerosene, gasoline, ammonia-based cleaners)
as defined by the Somerset County Recycling, Consumer Electronics
and Hazardous Waste programs. If you have questions, you may

5. Brush must be bundled. Individual pieces cannot be larger
than four inches (4 in.) in diameter and bundles cannot exceed
five feet (5 ft.) in length and three (3 ft.) in diameter. Bundles
must be free of fence posts or other wood products. Loose brush
and/or improperly bundled brush will be refused. Brush will
ultimately be chipped for mulch which will be used for Township
facilities. It will also be made available to residents for
their use. Announcements will be made regarding its availability.
Township residents will have unlimited access to the Container
Facility on the designated Container Facility days (8am –
12 noon) for the purposes of discarding brush. Loads containing
brush only will not count toward the four (4) allotted trips
on the Coupon. If a resident brings materials in addition to
brush, the trip will count and the Coupon will be punched. Brush
will be received at the location designated in the Public Works
yard, while other materials will be placed in containers as
designated.
The Township
does not provide curbside pick-up of leaves or grass clippings.

6. Rubber tires must be removed from lawn mowers, bicycles,
wagons, etc.
7. No cardboard boxes. If you bring materials to the facility
in cardboard boxes, they should be emptied and taken home and
disposed of according to the guidelines of the Somerset County
Recycle curb-side pick-up program for your area.
8. Used motor oil may be disposed of at the Container Facility.
Loads containing used motor oil only will not count toward the
four (4) allotted trips on the Coupon. If a resident brings
materials in addition to used motor oil, the trip will count
and the Coupon will be punched. Used motor oil can also be disposed
of through both the Somerset County Recycling Saturday Drop-off
Program and the Somerset County Hazardous Waste Program. The
containers used to transport motor oil are not recyclable and
should be disposed of in your regular garbage according to Somerset
County waste management guidelines. Do not leave such containers,
full or empty, at the Container Facility.
9. Acceptable items are listed below. If you have questions,

- carpet & carpet pads
- mattresses
- rain damaged items
- lawnmowers - washer & dryer
- refrigerators (click

- grills & air conditioners
- old toys
- old cabinets - toilets, tubs, sinks
- old decking material
- small remodeling materials from resident’s home (e.g.
roofing, wallboard)
- old ironing
boards
- water heaters
Please Note: Township residents will have unlimited
access to the Container Facility on the designated Container
Facility days/hours for the purposes of discarding brush (see
#5), motor oil (see #8). Loads containing brush and/or motor
oil only will not require a Coupon. If a load contains other
materials in addition to the brush & motor oil, the trip
will require a Coupon.

FACILITY DATES AND SCHEDULE
As a general rule, the container facility is open THE SECOND SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH, with an occasion switch due to a holiday (check below). Operating hours are 8 a.m. until 12 noon on the following Saturdays:
