Freeholder Brian D. Levine, youth council liaison, will provide welcome remarks.
“This is the 21st consecutive year that we are hosting a youth conference, which will provide useful information and strategies for young people,” said Freeholder Brian Levine. “The conference is a fun way to meet other teens, learn lifelong skills and discuss relevant topics of interest and concern.
“This year’s program focuses on those electronic devices we have all come to depend on and can’t do without and the plethora of information that is available at our fingertips,” he said. “It is both a curse and a blessing.”
The workshop choices will include “Byte Size Bullying,” which addresses cyberbullying, and “Destination Communication,” which explores the nuances of body language and how to have a successful interview, which includes body language and the back-and-forth of effective communication.
The “De-Cyber the Environment” workshop will explore the importance of getting outdoors and engaging with the environment in meaningful ways. The “Don’t Get Caught in the Web” workshop will provide important facts on how to stay safe when on the internet and the many social media sites.
The conference is sponsored by the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders, Somerset County Human Services Office of Operations & Planning and the Somerset County Youth Council.
