Butterfly Festival August 12Posted on July 27, 2017
The 2017 Watershed Butterfly Festival will be held on August 12 on the grounds of the 930 acre Stony Brook- Millstone Watershed Reserve.
The Butterfly Festival is a wonderful opportunity for children and adults to learn about nature and how we can care for our environment. The Festival, our largest educational family event of the year, offers imaginative, informative environmental activities that engage the whole family highlighted by music, local artisans, craft vendors and food. Our beautiful new Environmental Center, with its energy and water savings features, is sure to be a community draw.
After learning all about a butterfly’s life-cycle in the Kate Gorrie Butterfly House, visiting the insect zoo and rambling along on a trail with naturalist, guests can participate in the festival’s much anticipated butterfly and bug parade where costumes are encouraged. Other entertainment will include Live Music, Yoga classes with Swami Cat & Yoga Girl, book readings with a Live Skunk, hula hooping with Glitterhoops and photo ops with a butterfly on stilts!
The festival will feature local crafts, products and food vendors. We have added a Beer Garden featuring Riverhorse Beer & Jersey Ciderworks Summer Cider to enjoy while listening to live music from The Dadz, Bill O’Neal & Andy Koontz and Giana.
