“A Woman’s Story: A Celebration of Culture” Mar. 30thPosted on March 10, 2017
This free event will be held at the RVCC conference center on Thursday, March 30, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Cultural differences and commonalities will be the focus of this Women’s History Month program cosponsored by the Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women and the Raritan Valley Community College Office of Multicultural Affairs.
Women – and men – are invited and encouraged to bring their daughters, mothers, sisters and other female relatives and friends. The program will consist of presentations by a five-member panel of women from a variety of cultural backgrounds who will discuss their experiences as immigrants to the United States. A question-and-answer period will follow.
“Through these speakers’ stories we can get a sense of how women can change the world,” said Freeholder Patricia Walsh, commission liaison. “Although we may come from different backgrounds, we have many commonalities. This is a perfect topic to wrap up the celebration of Women’s History Month.”
